Applications are invited for the post of the StoryFutures IP and Research Contracts Manager. The role will have a high level of responsibility for efficient and effective management of the University’s creative industries’ research income and intellectual property. The role will work in the set up and running of a new National Lab R&D Lab for creative industries – a £51.1m infrastructure investment from UKRI led by Royal Holloway and working with partners including Pinewood, BT, disguise, University of Surrey and Abertay University. 

You should have strong experience of contract and intellectual property law, excellent communications and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to think outside the box. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail, who can manage a negotiations and rights across a different workstreams and contribute to an ethos of collaboration and inclusion in our working culture. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an R&D context and negotiating IP arrangements between universities and the creative sector and/or within and across the creative sector. The post holder will need to have some familiarity with UK Research & Innovation research funding systems, but more importantly will bring a willingness to learn new systems and to adapt and apply a range of templates, methods and approaches their professional background. 

The post holder will have a key responsibility to work across StoryFutures projects, not limited to the National Lab, whilst the role will involve working especially closely with staff at Universities and creative industries partners alike.

 This is a vital role in working across the University’s Research and Innovation team and the StoryFutures unit in driving an entrepreneurial and industry-engaged approach to creative industries R&D.   You will report to the Head of Research Contracts in Research & Innovation, working predominantly on StoryFutures projects with the direction and support of the Director and Director of Operations in StoryFutures. 

This is a part-time (4 days/week) post, available from 01 December. This post is based in Egham, Surrey but with the expectation of some remote working, as agreed. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with industry partners across the UK. An attractive relocation package is available.
