Innovation is the lifeblood of the University of Southampton and together with SETsquared Partnership we deliver a number of programmes helping turn ideas into thriving businesses.  Our next major programme IMPACT-IP focuses on deal readiness and aims to harness the collective capability across our SETsquared Partners together with investors, entrepreneurs and professional service firms to transform how we support spinout outs and get commercialisation deals done.

Join us as Innovation Programme Manager and you’ll play a pivotal part in transforming how we work, increase standardisation, build capacity and improve productivity so we smooth the pathway of launching new innovations to benefit the UK and globally.

Your role

At Southampton you’ll be joining not only a Russell Group university but you will also be joining the prestigious SETsquared Partnership  of the six research-intensive universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton, Surrey, and Cardiff. It is a business support network that provides training for entrepreneurs, incubation for start-ups and accelerates the growth of scale-up businesses. Celebrating 20th years in 2022 a recent report shows SETsquared has contributed GVA £15.7 billion to the economy since its foundation.

You will:

  • Manage innovation programmes and/or change projects aimed at improving how we commercialise and deliver innovation to boost the economy and benefit society.
  • Use your strong organisational and inter-personal skills to successfully delivery the IMPACT-IP programme and future programmes/change projects.
  • Manage a small team working alongside high performing professionals helping us make a step change in how we work and engage with external stakeholders.
  • Be at the heart of co-creating processes, guidelines and templates between universities, investors, entrepreneurs, founders and professional service firms so deals can happen quickly.

You

Previous project and programme management experience is essential. A passion for innovation and an understanding of the process of intellectual property commercialisation and/or start up creation is highly desirable for this role.

What we can offer you

In return, you can look forward to an excellent benefits package, a generous holiday allowance and a flexible home/office hybrid working model supporting work/life balance. We will support your long-term future too, with access to a pension scheme, subsidized health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts. All our benefits can be viewed (link opens benefits page )

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work.
