St Catharine’s College in the heart of Cambridge, is looking forward to another busy summer of welcoming a range of guests including summer school students, conference and B&B guests.
To help support our main team of Housekeeping Assistants during the summer months, we’re looking for 3 temporary Housekeeping Assistants to join the team and provide support with cleaning guest and conference rooms as well as our shared spaces.
It’s expected the contract can be for 6-12 weeks to cover the busy conference season, starting at the end of June until September. Once training is complete, you will work 20-25 hours per week (5 days out of 7) including weekends, on a rota basis.
Responsibilities will include:
• Cleaning College rooms using agreed methods and procedures, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved and maintained at all times.
• Undertaking deep cleaning activities as and when required and to agreed standards.
• Reporting any maintenance defects in accordance with college processes.
• Replacing any inventory items as needed.
• Adhering adhere to security procedures in relation to keys, property of students, property of conference guests and property of the College.
• To be aware of the action to be taken in the event of fire or any other emergency situations and carry out that action if required.
• To be aware of and comply with Health & Safety regulations as laid down in the College’s Health & Safety policy.
• To carry out any reasonable task as requested.
• To be as flexible as possible in order to provide an efficient service.
What you’ll bring to the role:
• Attention to detail and pride in your work - an ability or aptitude to clean and service college rooms using agreed methods and procedures: ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved and maintained at all times.
• Good communication skills - the nature of the job means there will be contact with students, Fellows and/or visitors, as well as work colleagues.
• Be able to manage your own workload and work to deadlines - particularly important during busy conference periods when our award winning B&B service is in place.
• Flexibility – no two days are the same and you may be required to undertake unplanned duties at short notice, within the scope of the role requirements.
What we offer:
• Flexible contract lengths from 6 – 12 weeks in duration, working regular hours of 4 or 5 hours per day (including weekend days on a rota basis).
• An hourly rate of pay of £12.00 plus holiday pay.

• Work location in the heart of Cambridge.
• For students, College may be able to offer you accommodation in one of our properties for the duration of the contract, at competitive rates (to be discussed at interview).
