We offer an exciting opportunity to join a leading and innovative health, safety and wellbeing team, which is part of the central Occupational Safety and Health Services (OSAHS), our University.

We have 3 roles available, based in different school hubs within the university.  The team comprises of experienced health and safety practitioners providing advice, guidance and support to staff and students in all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing across the university.  This service supports the university in achieving the highest standards of health and safety management and performance, ensuring statutory health and safety obligations are fulfilled by enabling staff to understand and effectively manage health and safety risks associated with their work activities.  OSAHS is an impartial, independent and institutional team reporting directly to a University Executive Board member.

The role

In your role you will provide a business partner advisory service to assigned academic schools and also respond to helpdesk enquiries from a range of professional services.  You will support the central programme of audits, training and guidance development.  The service you deliver will be effectively support all stages of the Plan, Do, Check, review cycle of continuous improvement in health and safety management. 

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Level 6 qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate membership, and continuous maintenance of membership the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, at Chartered level or Graduate level (or commitment to obtain within first 6 months).
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of health and safety legislation and the ability to transfer that knowledge in a practical and engaging manner.
  • Substantial experience of delivering a Health and Safety advisory service, advising on complex issues and supporting change

These roles are advertised as full-time (37.0 hours per week); however, we welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.  This role is also eligible for our agile working scheme meaning you can work a part of the week remotely, to be arranged with your manager.
