Responsibilities

The Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations at City University is responsible for maintaining and improving the IT Infrastructure & Operational landscape.

This role comprises direct line management of technical teams, ensuring that IT Infrastructure services are delivered in accordance with the University's strategic and operational objectives.

Setting and assessing team goals, contributing to budget planning, maintaining compliance with information security standards, and serving as an incident management as needed are all important roles.

The function also includes managing the university's technical infrastructure, encouraging continual improvement and innovation, and overseeing major infrastructure projects.

Furthermore, the incumbent will act as a subject matter expert, supporting the IT department's strategic direction and managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to maximise the University's IT investments.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have substantial expertise managing IT infrastructure services within a medium to large business. They will have a track record of successfully leading different technical teams and demonstrating extensive management skills in Cloud services, Operating Systems, databases, networking, compute, storage, and end-user device management.

Strategic planning, budget management, and the ability to create and implement IT policies and systems that support organisational objectives are all essential.

Experience with incident management, process improvement, and project management is required.

The candidate should also have strong communication and relationship-building abilities, as well as the ability to work successfully with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience managing complicated organisational systems and leading through change is critical.

A thorough awareness of current and new IT technologies, as well as a dedication to improving service delivery through innovative solutions, is required.
