The Directorate of Finance is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to the position of Head of Finance (Senior Finance Business Partner). This is a permanent position as a key member of the Senior Finance Team.

Overall Purpose

The Head of Finance (Senior Finance Business Partner) is a member of the University Finance team working under the guidance of the Head of Faculty Financial Reporting and Analysis.  You will work alongside Heads of School/Directors/Senior Managers as a business partner to provide operational and strategic support on all financial matters.

You will be responsible for managing the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes for your area of responsibility.  This will include analysis of performance and highlighting remedial action where required.  You will develop and continuously improve management information to assist School/Directorate budget holders.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Possess strong numeracy skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail
  • Customer focussed with excellent customer service skills and the ability to deliver a high-quality and professional service
  • Possess excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise a variety of work activities in a busy environment and meet strict deadlines
  • A continues improvement mind-set and capability to adapt processes to accommodate changes in financial reporting and across the higher education field
