About Us

King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) is the newest central directorate of King’s College London and the business owner of Professional and Executive Education at King’s. The directorate leads on the development and management of Professional Education portfolio, strategy, and operational excellence. KPED works with all faculties to create, manage, enable, and promote the portfolio via a Hub and Spoke operating model. KPED seeks to create effective mechanisms to enable such activity to be run efficiently at a profit, and growing home and international reputation as a centre of excellence.

KPED is a small, dynamic team with ambitious growth targets in an exciting area of development for King’s.


About the Role
THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

This is a new role. Working with the Director of Professional Education as part of King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) team, the post-holder will develop the social value, impact and enterprise strategy and accompanying Business Development function of the unit. You will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of stakeholder and employer engagement focused on social value, impact and enterprise aligned to the Professional Education portfolio at King’s, working closely with the Heads of other functions and with King’s nine faculties.

You will also have its own business development portfolio, working with the Business Development Managers to ensure our ability to meet growing demand across all nine Faculties. The post will have line management responsibilities for a number of Business Development Managers.

If appointed you will lead the development of a strategic portfolio of high-quality professional education programmes, focused on social value, impact and enterprise. Building external relationships with senior stakeholders, partnering with faculties, and enabling ambitious third-stream income targets. The diverse portfolio will include open enrolment and customised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Executive Education programmes. These domestic and international programmes may be delivered via online, blended, hyflex, hybrid, multimodal or in-person.

You will be offered a full time (35 hours per week) contract on an indefinite basis.


About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Professional Education marketplace and current trends, particularly in the sphere of social value, impact and enterprise.
  • Proven and demonstrable business development and income generating skills, ideally in the UK Higher Education landscape.
  • Experience and evidence of grant/funding capture through national and local competitive tenders, demonstrating social value, impact and enterprise.
  • Demonstrable ability and evidence of engagement with private, public and third sector organisations.
  • Ability to lead product development and cultural change.
  • Strong written, verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leaderships skills at a senior level.
  • Proven people management skills.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience and knowledge of translating HE policy into new programme and activity, demonstrating social value, impact and enterprise.
  • Knowledge of emerging subject matter and market intelligence gathering.
  • Analysis and use of data to inform planning.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial planning skills.
