About the Role

This is a Maternity Cover role until December 2024

The Creative Arts team at University Centre Leeds deliver a wide range of degrees in the visual and performing arts to over 300 students. We deliver practical creative programmes to prepare students to enter the creative industries.

There is a strong focus on developing the learner's practical and creative skills, and their enterprising and employability skills help them to grow as people to support their journey towards employment in the creative industries. All staff are involved in devising the curriculum in response to academic regulations and industry needs, as well as delivering and assessing modules.

We work closely as a team with a strong emphasis on mutual support. All staff are dedicated to the continuing evolution of the curriculum and have active personal practices to keep themselves up to date on developments in the worlds of education and industry.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, deliver and assess a variety of Creative Hair and Media Makeup modules. 
  • Create dynamic classes to develop students'engagement with the programme.
  • Provide students with individual tutorials and study plans.
  • Support multiple media makeup projects across all levels of study.
  • Create engaging and challenging skills development in a variety of media makeup contexts.
  • Support students with academic and professional development and autonomy.
  • Assist in widening professional links and engagement with undergraduates.
  • Organise guest speakers and trips for students.

About You

  • Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • Relevant first degree or equivalent in teaching subject.
  • Experience of positively managing student progression, advice and guidance in a University or Further Education setting.
  • Knowledge of current teaching practices and experience of utilising a range of teaching practices to enhance learner journey and progression.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
