The University of Greenwich wishes to appoint a Research Assistant/Engineer to work on a large collaborative research and innovation project funded in the INTERREG France-Channel-England programme.  The project is entitled ‘improving the design of flexible and responsive manufacturing systems involving autonomous and collaborative robots (CoRoT)’, and aims to provide to manufacturing companies, especially SMEs, innovative and affordable technological solutions (collaborative and modular mobile robots), digital tools for flexible manufacturing and transit systems and associated knowledge to improve their competitiveness. In addition to the specialised technical tasks described in the proposal, the research assistant/engineer will also take part in the organization of industrial workshops, B2B meetings, conferences, webpage development and training courses for industry.

The successful applicant will ideally hold a PhD in manufacturing engineering, systems and management with excellent project management and communication skills, and proven research and development experience in ICT, knowledge management or robotics. However, suitably qualified graduates with a 1st or upper 2nd honours Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree with proven experience in research or industrial experience will be considered. Successful applicant without a doctorate degree is encouraged to register for a PhD and UK equivalent tuition fees are paid by the University. The appointment is full-time, fixed term for 3 years, starting as soon as possible.
