The Role
The University of Cambridge's Estates Division is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the Estate Data Team as the GIS Analyst.
This Team is responsible for the production, co-ordination and upkeep of the University's core spatial data. Which includes management of CAD, BIM and GIS data for locations, sites, buildings, floors and spaces.
With the Estates Division having invested a significant effort in the development and implementation of a definitive data model of the Estate, including the Estates Division Digital Map, it is imperative that the usefulness and currency of the information is maximised
The University's focus on a sustainable estate and carbon reduction aims, has heightened the need to understand the nature of the Estate and demands for insights with the recent addition of North West Cambridge properties, the newly formed Property Group, and requests from Departments, are only set to increase.
Reporting to the Estate Data Manager and working collaboratively with colleagues in the Estate Data Team and others you will analyse spatial data, producing maps, reports and insights on the Estate utilising data visualisations for key decision makers.
You will be responsible for managing specialist software (ArcGIS) and other related applications.
You will develop geospatial standards to meet the informational needs of the Division and contribute significantly to an effective Data & Information Systems Strategy.
The role will be expected to mentor the Estates Data Team and the wider Estates Division in the use of geospatial tools.
About You
You will have demonstrable experience of working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS), digital maps, geospatial data and associated technologies
It would be beneficial if you had experience of working for a University Estate or other large property owner/occupier.
For this role you will need strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills which will help you with your ability to work within a team, plan and manage work activities, communicate and prioritise workloads.
Qualifications
Educated to Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in GIS or allied field, ideally with a technical qualification(s) appropriate to GIS Analyst Role.
