Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:

We are looking for an experienced Technician to join our team.

As an important member of the team, you will:

  • Provide technical support to academic staff, students and researchers across a range of disciplines  including soil science, water chemistry, river sciences, river ecology, geochronology, climate, geographical mapping systems (GIS) and surveying.
  • Assist teaching activities that will include residential field courses, laboratory and field based sessions.
  • Provide core laboratory support to day to day activities.
  • Have a hands-on, pro-active approach to tasks and a 'can-do' attitude.

You will also work as part of the broader technical support team supporting the School of Social Sciences and Humanities’ strategic aims.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working within a University or scientific laboratory within a physical science subject.
  • Be highly motivated, working well with others as part of a small team.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people in a variety of situations.
  • Able to prioritise workload effectively, adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Meet the University’s requirements for driving cars and becoming a University Driver.
  • Have an HNC in Science or related subject, or equivalent qualification.
