Garment Senior Technician Bank Staff

About the Role

The Garment Technical Team within Nottingham School of Art & Design is looking to expand its team of technical bank staff to provide support in garment manufacture studios and resources. This is a casual role with no fixed hours and supports the team during busy periods, evenings and/or weekends. 

As a Senior Technician, you will work under the direction of your Technical Team Leader. Senior Technicians provide support to students during workshops and self-directed study, creating a supportive environment. You will provide support to undergraduate and postgraduates which may involve delivering inductions and technical demonstrations as well as the day to day management of the workshop. The post holder will be responsible for the safe use of the workshop, equipment and machinery demonstrations and technical support in garment construction.

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently within a team. You will be able to communicate ideas of a complex and technical nature to students, using a variety of methods and have detailed knowledge of the workshop and/or industry experience. 

Experience is essential in the following areas: 

1.  Broad range of garment manufacturing techniques and processes

2. Proficient in operating industrial machinery such as lockstitches, cover seams and overlockers

3.  Ability to troubleshoot garment construction and manufacturing issues and support students with their work
