We are seeking to appoint an Executive Assistant for the newly established improvement research institute.
Funded by the Health Foundation, the improvement research institute has a remit to advance research into how to improve quality and safety of patient care. Through collaborative partnerships across the UK and internationally, the Institute's mission is to create an enabling infrastructure for the NHS to become the world's largest producer of systematic learning about how to improve healthcare, and to establish improvement research as a leading academic field.
The Executive Assistant will deliver the highest level of professional assistance and support to the Director and Deputy Director of the institute. Leading on executive office functions, the appointed individual will have multiple responsibilities requiring the ability to make sound judgements, present the institute in the best possible light to high profile external and internal stakeholders, and strong communications and organisational skills. The post-holder will provide high quality diary management, dealing with constantly shifting appointments and will organise ~50 internal and external meetings a week. They will support these meetings by preparing briefing notes, assembling agendas, drafting minutes and organising follow-up actions. The Executive Assistant will also organise complex travel, large-scale events and visits by external collaborators/stakeholders. The individual will ensure that the business of the Directors is progressed promptly and appropriately by drafting or commissioning responses to enquiries and carrying out delegated tasks. To ensure success in this role, the Executive Assistant must have the ability and nuance to liaise with senior members of the University, funders, the NHS and national and international organisations. There will be regular liaison with the Departmental Business and Operations Manager and with senior personnel in the Clinical School.
The post-holder will possess excellent organisational, diary management and IT skills, in particular Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; excellent communication skills both verbal and written; experience of working in a busy office environment; the ability to prioritise a demanding and changing workload; and confidence in working effectively both on their own initiative and as part of a team. They will thrive under pressure, have strong time management skills and enjoy involvement with the delivery of the institute's objectives. Given the high workload and multiple demands on the Director and Deputy Director, the Executive Assistant will need to build high levels of trust with institute stakeholders and possess sensitive antennae in determining priorities and issues.
Funds are available until 31st March 2022.
The post holder will be based at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Primary Care Unit, Cambridge Institute of Public Health, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge CB2 0SR (approximately 2 miles south of city centre).
