The VP People & Talent/Chief People Officer (VP P&T/CPO) is seeking a confident, highly proficient, and experienced Executive Assistant to provide broad support. The post holder will be a member of the HR Directorate, providing high level support to the VP P&T/CPO, along with supporting the HR Business Manager as required.  The postholder will report to the HR Business Manager.


About the Role

The main purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive, confidential, and high-quality PA support to the VP P&T/CPO including smooth and efficient running of the diary, providing email correspondence and often being a first point of contact for the office. It will also include providing administrative support to the HR senior leadership team. This role will also include supporting projects as directed by the HR Business Manager and VP P&T/CPO.

We are looking for someone who has substantial experience as an EA at a senior level providing operational support in a busy office with competing demands. You will be motivated by the challenges and opportunities facing higher education, highly organised, and flexible in your approach. We are looking for someone who has proven skills in managing numerous tasks and prioritising workload. Excellent communication skills are essential as is an attention to detail. You will be a self-starter with a can-do attitude. 

The post holder will be the primary point of contact for the VP P&T and work closely with them and the HR Business Manager to enable them to meet the HR Directorate’s strategic objectives.

This is a full time role and you will be offered an indefinite  contract


About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Fluency in English Language and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate widely with a range of stakeholders internally and externally
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience of using standard office packages Office 365 suite of software efficiently including Outlook, SharePoint, Teams including financial systems
  • Experience of providing comprehensive PA support to senior staff, preferably in the HE sector, including electronic diary management and ideally experience of producing high quality minutes and meeting management
  •  Experience of administration in a complex environment, including organising large meetings/events management
  • Experience of working in a project-led environment, with ability to carry out own research to get the work completed.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Motivated, resourceful, self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction, tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to deal with sensitive information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Desirable criteria

  • First degree or equivalent
  • Experience of working in the higher education sector
  • Experience of servicing meetings i.e. formulating agendas, action logs
