Overview

About the Role

The postholder will deliver high-quality, EU pre award research support services across the three faculties of Queen Mary and be responsible for EU funding advice and guidance to researchers to ensure competitive, multi-disciplinary proposal submissions meeting funder compliance and deadlines. Postholder to lead support on budget preparation and will line manage the EU Costing and Contracts Officer to ensure cost recovery and financial viability. Postholder will be responsible to lead contract preparation and negotiations as act as a key liaison with funder and partners.

The postholder will also support the Senior EU Partnerships Manager to stimulate research activity, promote funding opportunities and where required support proposal development to increase research income from EU to support Faculty strategic objectives and support the development of guidance materials.

About the Department

The post sits within the Queen Mary University of London International Research and Innovation Team that manages EU and international grant funding pre and post-award. It aims to provide strategic engagement of EU and international partners and funders externally, deliver competitive and high-quality proposals and projects internally, and to ensure compliance with the UK, EU and international regulations and funder requirements. It is one of the teams that makes up the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) that supports researchers across Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust to support a diverse range of research activities, from getting a project off the ground to ensuring its smooth running and future development. 

About You

Educated to a degree level, you will have proven experience in supporting European research schemes including the European Framework Programmes for research and innovation. As well as experience in proposal technical compliance and guidance for proposal preparation and review. You will have led on contract preparation, negotiation and handling IP and confidential information and regulatory compliance. You will also have good knowledge of funder rules as well as HEI financial systems and experience of preparing EU research costings to ensure compliance and viability.
