In this role you will be responsible for ensuring our award-winning accommodation, lecture theatres conference rooms, hospitality outlets, flats and public areas are maintained to our high standards.
You will support the Assistant Manager in providing and maintaining a quality housekeeping service to students, staff and visitors of the University and provide daily supervision to a team of cleaning staff, ensuring that correct procedures are followed, including adherence to the department’s Health and Safety regulations, legal compliance and University policies.

Please note, this role is for day shifts 8am – 3.30pm (including 30 minute unpaid lunch break), working 5 out of 7 days, covering Monday to Sunday.

To be successful in this role you will need:
- The ability to use your own initiative with minimal supervision and react effectively to the unexpected
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing at all levels within the organisation
- Good IT skills particularly in Microsoft office packages, email, and internet
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and competing demands
- Experience of supervising a team as a team leader or equivalent.
The Housekeeping Services team sits within our Commercial Services and Estates Department and is responsible for cleaning, housekeeping, hygiene and waste removal services for the entire Canterbury Campus, in accordance with published service level statements.
The department manages student accommodation on the Canterbury and Medway campuses for over 6,500 students. Our accommodation has many accolades, including winning ‘Best University Accommodation for Groups’ for twelve consecutive years at the Group Travel Awards and were awarded Commercial University of the Year 2018 at CUBO’s (College and University Business Officers) annual Summer conference.
