The post holder will be based within the Estates and Facilities department. The Estates and Facilities department oversee the operation of the significant University Estate, with over 70 buildings spread over 5 sites. Working closely with the Sustainability and Energy Manager, this role is pivotal to inform future energy saving, carbon reduction and sustainability strategies.


We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Sustainability and Energy Officer, to assist the Sustainability and Energy Manager in providing an influential and progressive impact across the University. The post will focus on energy and carbon reduction, collating and analysing utility and carbon data, identifying trends and providing updates on progress towards our targets. It will also focus on driving positive behaviour change, engagement and innovative communication of sustainability across the University estate.


The role will be based predominantly in Pontypridd, although there will be an expectation for the post holder to work across all USW sites, and to attend other locations as required.


The university is currently operating a hybrid-model of working. However, the successful candidate would be expected to work on campus for a minimum of 3 days per week.

If you are a successful external candidate for this position, you will be employed by Professional and Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of South Wales, which provides services to the University and Colleges. If you are an internal candidate, you will continue to be employed by the University of South Wales.
