Egg Facility Technician - Grade 6

The University of Liverpool is looking to appoint to an exciting new role in its Egg Facility, part of Liverpool Shared Research Facilities (LIV-SRF) within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The position is available at Grade 6 for 3 years fixed term, in the first instance, on our sector-leading Research Technical Professional (RTP) career pathway.

The Egg Facility is a new and expanding shared research facility. It offers University and external researchers a platform to utilise a rapid and cost-effective method for translation of scientific research, that can also reduce or replace the use of mammalian models.

The role will be instrumental in the safe, efficient, and innovative operation of the Facility. You will support the Facility Manager and Academic Lead in delivering a world-class service helping to design, perform and interpret experiments for clients. As well as supervising and training academic users, students, or technical staff.

To excel in this role, you will need to be able to manage a busy and varied workload, have technical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and develop new techniques. Written and verbal communication with clients, technical staff and Facility users will be necessary on issues relating to projects, the Facility and the equipment housed within it. While experience working with the CAM model and cell culture is desirable, experience of working and supervising others in any laboratory setting is essential.

You will have a degree, equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.
