FTE: 1.0 fte (working 37 hours per week term time only) total of 28 weeks.  

Duration of Contract: Permanent 

Salary: UH6 £31,396pa pro rata to £33,966pa pro rata with potential to progress to £37,099pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience 

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane campus, Hatfield

The Digital Skills Facilitator is part of a team at the University of Hertfordshire to lead on supporting staff and students to have the resources, skills and knowledge to develop and excel in an increasingly digital world.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Digital Skills Facilitator will work as part of a team to support in the design and delivery of digital skills development opportunities, aimed at staff and students. You will support staff and students individually and in small groups to undertake activity in the Herts Staff and Student Digital Skills Development Journeys, including facilitated and self-guided learning opportunities to encourage independent problem solving and continued gradual digital capability development.

Skills and experience required

You will have proven experience in supporting the design and delivery of live synchronous and/or in-person training sessions across one or more areas of digital skills development to small and large audiences. You will also have proven experience in supporting the development of online self-study course materials that are high in quality, engaging and effective.

You will have experience in building confidence in others to support them to apply newfound skills to their professional and/or academic contexts. Also, the ability to explain technical concepts in layman’s terms, allowing others to relate and develop their own understanding.

Excellent communication and strong organisational skills are essential qualities for this post.

Qualifications required

Minimum of a Degree qualification or equivalent level qualification in a relevant subject (Education, Educational Technology, Digital Technology, Multimedia, Information Technology) or experience of doing a similar job.
