Background

The Education and Research Services (ERES) team in Information Technology is responsible for developing and supporting the University’s education and research services.

ERES work closely with Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD), Library and the Research Office, as well as academic departments and research centres, to provide suitable tools for students and staff.

You will develop and support the web-based systems that underpin the University’s education and research activities, in particular Moodle as the virtual learning environment.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing and developing City's virtual learning environment (Moodle) and will contribute to the development and support of other systems for education and research.

You will maintain the Moodle codebase which includes a large number of plugins and integrations and will be expected to provide guidance and expertise on the use of appropriate coding standards and frameworks.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge of PHP and Javascript and a proven track record developing Moodle sites and authoring plugins. You will have a good knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JQuery and Ajax as well as code management using Git.

As well as these technical skills we welcome someone with a good team working attitude, problem-solving skills and ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
