Deputy Head of Research Grants Finance

As Deputy Head of Research Grants Finance, working closely with the Head of Research Grants Finance, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in identifying and implementing strategy changes within Research Grants Finance, aligning to the Heriot-Watt strategy, both in terms of research delivery and financial forecasts.

You will be a key member of the Research Grants Finance (RGF) management team; implementing audit recommendations; while building relationships with appropriate internal areas such as Research Development Team (Pre-Award) and lead academics, and communicating with external parties eg funders, partners and auditors. Using your experience in process improvement, you will also develop strategy changes within RGF to align with University strategy and values.  

You will have significant accounting experience, preferably within the Higher Education Sector; with experience in developing and implementing process improvements; along with proven experience working within the sector managing research projects. Oracle Fusion (or other large accounting software) experience, including identifying system improvements and delivering enhancements, is also essential.
