We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Department Lecturer to contribute to teaching, examination, and curriculum organisation and development in Organic Chemistry. This is an opportunity to join a leading department recognised internationally for its excellence in teaching and rigorous and valuable research.
The post-holder will contribute to all aspects of departmental teaching in Organic Chemistry, including the co-ordination of departmental and college teaching. The post-holder will be a member of the Departmental Teaching Committee, and the Organic / Chemical Biology Section Committee, and will play a full role in the development of the course. They will be expected to monitor developments in the higher education sector and be ready to develop imaginative and innovative approaches to teaching, contribute to working groups, projects and reviews to support the educational mission of the Department. You will hold a doctorate in Organic Chemistry or a closely-related subject, and will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level. You will be able to demonstrate sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop novel course materials and methodologies, and demonstrate sufficient expertise and standing to be able to lead on initiatives, and advise on best practice. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal, time-management and organisational skills. Additionally, you will demonstrate a commitment to the student learning experience and effective pastoral skills for supporting students.
The position is a permanent position, with an immediate start date (allowing for any notice period that may need to be served), and is based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
