The shift pattern is from 20:00 to 08:00 following a four on - four off rota, covering 7 days a week, including holiday periods. Full training will be provided.

As part of our Front of House Team, we are looking to recruit a Customer Service Assistant to provide excellent customer service and professional support to our staff, visitors and students. This position will be based at the Student Information Desk within the Learning Hub, on the main Waterside Campus. You will be working on your own during this shift, with the support of the Campus Security Team and the night time cleaning operatives in proximity. This building is open 24hrs a day.

The position will concentrate on supporting building users by managing face to face, telephone and email queries related to use of the facilities within the building, events, meetings and other centrally delivered facilities services.

First class customer service is an underpinning requirement for this position along with the ability to communicate effectively with our customers and maintain systems/emails in an accurate and timely manner. 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Acting as first point of contact for all staff, student and visitor queries at the Student Information Desk.
  • Issuing and retrieving ID cards including temporary passes for students and staff
  • Daily reporting of queries to management
  • Assisting students with book returns
  • Managing return of equipment and notifying relevant departments
  • Working collaboratively with different teams across the University  
  • Reporting issues that may occur and signposting

This post is subject to a discretionary shift allowance which is implemented in recognition of employees working unsociable hours and is applicable to those who work between the hours of 11pm and 6am. As this post is contracted for shifts that cover the whole of this period, it is subject to the maximum shift allowance of 10% for hours worked.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay the higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 3 salary before living wage which is £20,880 - £22,214 per annum (37 hours per week).

About you

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and communications skills, along with a flexible and positive approach to any given situation.

You must be self-motivated and able to prioritise a workload.

You must possess a willingness to help students, staff and visitors and have an approachable demeanour.

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent in relevant discipline
