Working closely with the Head of Divisional Marketing and Recruitment, the Divisional Marketing and Recruitment Lead will provide direction and leadership for the delivery of marketing and recruitment activities for the Kent Business School division; feeding into central policy and translating it back into local plans. They will be an excellent communicator and negotiator acting effectively as an account manager to the Business School, becoming an expert in the subject specificity and nuanced needs of the division, working with professional services teams, supporting the academic contribution to all marketing and recruitment. 

The role holder will provide professional insight to ensure the division continues to positively enhance its profile and reputation, supporting the vision for growth while strengthening and protecting student recruitment in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an increasingly competitive market place. They will ensure ‘right place, right time’ for all marketing and student recruitment activity with a particular emphasis on recruitment events, content creation, robust annual plans and details analysis of recruitment performance and metrics.

In this role, you will:

    Work in collaboration with the Head of Divisional Marketing & Recruitment to develop and deliver the Divisional marketing strategy and annual plan to maximise home and international student recruitment mapping to Directorate-wide strategies. Ensure the Division continues to positively enhance their recruitment targets, profile and reputation in line with University processes, policies and ambition, and that the local activity draws on resources across the wider team. 

    Attend Divisional operational meetings and co-ordinate attendance of professional service Heads where needed. Develop an understanding of the complexities, challenges and opportunities facing the Division. Develop expert knowledge of all areas of the Divisional portfolio and other assigned departments. 

    Analyse data and information from a range of sources in support of marketing activities, including applications into the Division, to determine areas of growth, as well as historic and emerging markets and work with the Market Insight team to share key market and competitor intelligence, supporting the production of detailed market analysis to inform the provision, creation and opportunity for new or revised programmes. 

    Build strong working relationships with academic colleagues and PSD teams and manage divisional academic engagement to support student recruitment activities in line with the divisional student recruitment targets and objectives. To include but not be limited to on campus and virtual recruitment events, conversion activities, Clearing, and course content etc. The Lead will manage the Divisional Marketing & Recruitment Coordinator.

What we are looking for in the right candidate:

    Educated to degree level or equivalent

    Knowledge and understanding of marketing and recruitment in the Higher Education sector

    Excellent and effective negotiation, influencing and communication skills, particularly the ability to persuade and inspire colleagues to work collaboratively to ensure strategic priorities are met, and the ability to produce clear and concise written materials

    Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including external stakeholders such as employers
