Are you a part-qualified and experienced Management Accountant with excellent communication skills ? Do you have an innovative and creative approach with excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to think strategically, with consideration for the wider implications of decisions made?  If so we would welcome your application for the role of Management Accountant.  

In this role you will manage the production of financial reports & management information, including budgeting, financial analysis and in-year forecasting. You will also provide a key liaison point between central finance and finance teams in other departments, particularly Finance & Resource Managers in Academic Divisions and Professional Service Directorates.

What will be your key accountabilities?

  • Support and deputise for the finance business partner as the key strategic, financial support to all areas of the university.
  • Support the production of detailed budgets following agreed, consistent methodology and to ensure these are correctly phased in line with expected patterns of spend
  • Assist in the production of high-quality monthly management accounts to deadlines showing performance against budget. To Review these on a formal basis with Senior Management, investigating and interpreting variances against budgets/targets and producing informative commentary.  

What will you bring to this role?

  • Part-qualified CCAB Professional Accounting Qualification. 
  • Good standard of education to GCSE level, including GCSE English and Maths or equivalent. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience in Management Accounting in a complex organisation with demonstrable competence in budget setting/management, variance analysis, commentary, costing and profitability analysis.
