**Open only to current University of Leeds employees on a secondment basis**

Are you keen to contribute to the communications of the Cultural Institute and the newly approved Cultural Engagement Strategy? Do you have experience in creating content for websites, social media, and blogs? Are you keen to develop your experience in the context of cultural partnerships and research?

A unique temporary opportunity has arisen at the Cultural Institute (CI) for a creative communications professional as the result of a current job holder going on a part-time secondment. The CI is entering an exciting 6 months that includes the delivery of a major cultural programme (Smeaton300 including Light Night), a new institutional partnership with Bradford25 and an Audience Development workstream.

You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills and experience in building communications plans to engage, and work closely with, a range of different audiences.

You will report directly to Wieke Eringa, the Director of the Cultural Institute (CI), and work in close collaboration with the incumbent, Yasmeen Soudani. The Communications Officer works to ensure that the CI targets key audiences both internally and externally to build its profile both within and outside of the University. Working with colleagues within the team, the Faculty Marketing Manager, central communications and professionals in the sector, the Officer raises awareness of the CI and its work through press, web and social media.

Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the re-organisation and creation of new copy for the Cultural Institute’s website and assisting Project Managers in the development and promotion of opportunities at the Cultural Institute for both university members and external partners in the creative sector. Additionally, the role involves working closely with senior academics and professional services colleagues throughout the university to coordinate and distribute content across various digital platforms, including blog posts, impact reports, the website, and newsletters.

What we offer in return

  • 26 days holiday plus approx.16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – That’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme options plus life assurance
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
