The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. The London International Development Centre (LIDC), a collaborative initiative between seven University of London institutions, is recruiting a Communications Manager. The post-holder will be responsible for further developing and implementing the communications strategy of LIDC and line-managing the Communications team, including the flagship internship programme. 

The post-holder will provide creative input and oversight into our social media and web strategy and devise a calendar of new and stimulating events, whilst also overseeing the production of staff and student newsletters, reports and podcasts. A key aim of the role is to continue to grow our audience and increase the external visibility and profile of LIDC and our member Colleges.

The Communications Manager will report to the Director of LIDC, and will work as a team with other Centre-based core staff in partnership with the administrations of LIDC’s seven Colleges. 

The post-holder will have a Masters Degree and experience in developing a communications strategy as well as carrying out its implementation (including managing corporate/ institutional websites). Experience line managing staff alongside experience organising medium to large events is essential. Further particulars are included in the job description. 

The post is full-time, 35 hours per week, 1.0FTE and fixed-term until 31  July 2024, with the possibility of extension subject to funding. The post is available from 01 November 2023.

The salary will be on the Professional Services scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947-£49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
