Are you interested in working with a pioneering academic team to help establish and support a multimillion-pound research initiative?

As Communications and Digital Content Manager can you lead on promoting our work, by telling our story and helping to develop and implement a compelling communications strategy for our stakeholders?

This is a new and exciting role created to help realise the ambitions for the Observatory for Mathematical Education (OME). Based in the School of Education on the Jubilee Campus you will create, curate and publish focused content across multiple platforms to support and promote the Observatory’s activity.

The role holder will oversee communications and will facilitate an active and authoritative stream of blogs and commentary across social media platforms and the web. You will also oversee horizon scanning as part of the Observatory’s wider role of monitoring relevant activity at national and international levels and enable the OME to achieve its ambition to be the leading authority in the field.

You will lead on, and work with the management team and colleagues to effectively plan, develop and deliver innovative and engaging digital content, marketing and communications campaigns that support the OME’s partners, portfolio of work and ambitions. The monitoring and review of communications engagement and impact with key stakeholders will be an essential requirement to help inform and shape activities.

This will demand the development and application of strong and proven copywriting and stakeholder management skills and will involve proactively planning and delivering activity against tight timescales and competing deadlines. You will work with limited direct supervision and therefore be required to use your initiative, take personal responsibility, have a flexible approach, think analytically and creatively to solve problems. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships, and work collaboratively with academic staff and professional services colleagues across the Observatory and Central Departments, and to deliver innovative, high quality, and compliant digital content and communications in a fast-paced and varied environment.

In return, we offer a competitive employment package to support your wellbeing and professional development. You will receive an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including a highly attractive pension and holiday allowance (30 days in addition to Bank Holiday and University closure days).

This post is offered on a permanent with underlying funding contract, until 17 October 2028. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. A hybrid working arrangement with blended approach of office and home working each week is available with prior agreement.  Job share arrangements may also be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Head of Operations, Louise Savage, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
