Centre Manager - Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC) - fixed term

The Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC) at the University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Centre Manager for the co-ordinated and strategic management of staff, operations and research activity within the nmRC. The Centre Manager is pivotal to driving research direction and will contribute to research development activities across the nmRC and more widely across UoN, aligning to the strategic direction of major funding entities. 

Excellent communication skills and experience motivating teams and individuals is required, along with financial and operational management, strategic and business planning skills. In-depth knowledge and experience of nanoscale characterisation techniques is also desirable. Key responsibilities include successful research development by driving the strategic direction of key research outputs within the nmRC, leadership and management of the nmRC research team and strategic and operational management (including of physical infrastructure and financial planning).

The nmRC is a world leading analytical facility at the University of Nottingham. It provides state-of-the-art instrumentation and expertise in nanoscale characterisation, specialised sample preparation, and micro/nano-structure fabrication, for the benefit of all University of Nottingham (UoN) researchers, external academic collaborators and industrial partners. The Centre enables and enhances cross-Faculty collaborations and fosters external collaborations with internationally leading institutions; provides a first-class environment for training & career development; and exploits opportunities for knowledge transfer and collaboration with industry. The post is offered on a fixed-term basis, available until 16/06/2025, to cover a maternity leave, with a start date of 1st July 2024. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
