This is an exciting time to join the University of Bristol Careers Service as we implement our five-year careers service plan. You will be joining an innovative and enthusiastic team of employability advisers and consultants based in the Careers Service.
You will be providing professional employability and skills support to students in the Faculty of Life Sciences. You will work closely with a Faculty Employability Consultant and Faculty Employability Adviser to understand the needs of students in the Faculty, and support curricular and co-curricular employability related activities to students.
This new role is based in the Faculty Employability Team within the Careers Service and supports the delivery of information and advice sessions, organising and support of events, newsletter development and data recording.
This role is fixed term until 31 July 2025, with an ideal start date of early August 2024.
- Delivering careers and employability information and advice in both one to one and group settings, including through workshops and presentations
- Creating resources for use within academic and personal tutoring settings
- Organising and supporting careers events for students in the Faculty, including administrative support
- Updating and maintaining records of student attendance to aid reporting and evaluation
The role requires ability to work credibly with academics to embed employability in a curricular or co-curricular context. You will need to be:
- Able to engage confidently with students to deliver short 1-2-1 information and advice appointments and/or drop ins
- Exceptionally organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident using management information and data in context
- Adept at planning and delivering engaging presentations and workshops using active learning approaches to a variety of student and staff audiences, both online and in person
- Qualified with a relevant professional qualification or have relevant experience in a careers and employability related setting
Contract type: Fixed-term contract until 31/07/2025
Work pattern: Part-time, 17.5 hours per week
Grade: G
Salary: £29,605-£32,982 per annum, pro rata
