The School of Education has a large, well established and highly respected tradition of initial teacher education (ITE).  There is a long-established secondary programme and an innovative and growing primary programme. The School seeks to appoint an experienced teacher/teacher educator to work in this area.

The role holder will contribute to the teaching of the secondary science ITE programmes and work closely with colleagues on other ITE programmes and the ITE leadership team. Teaching on ITE programmes includes supporting a group of personal tutees across the year and working closely with colleagues in partnership schools.  They will contribute to the development of ITE programmes and, potentially, to other programmes offered by the School (e.g. the BA Education, MA Education or PGCE International). They will engage in scholarship of teaching in a range of ways, including innovating and developing curriculum and pedagogy, engaging with key ideas in the field through leadership of projects and writing in the area of science ITE or a related area.

The post is offered on a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) contract. The role starts in September, or as soon as possible thereafter. Job share arrangements may be considered. 

Applicants should hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (secondary), or equivalent, and a masters degree, or equivalent, in a relevant area. They should also have substantive teaching experience in secondary science education in the UK and experience of supporting student teachers or ECTs.
