UCL Finance is divided into 4 Directorates: Management Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Business Partnering and Financial Services. Between them, they are responsible for the management of UCL's financial performance and strategy and for the provision of services and advice.
The job of Assistant Management Accountant is based in the Management Accounting team. The Directorate leads on management accounting, internal management reporting and compliance reporting to our regulators.
In this job, you'll be responsible for supporting the delivery of all aspects of the University’s management accounting, including cost management, cash flow management, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting. You'll support the provision of accurate financial information for use across the business.
You will work closely with colleagues across UCL, and will need to understand and deliver on their management accounting needs. This will include finance colleagues in the business areas, FP&A, the Financial Accounting team and the Finance Business Partners. You'll deliver the management accounting across UCL, enabling continuous improvement in processes and helping to ensure that the management reporting is accurate, reliable and timely so that it supports the decision making of the University. There will be the opportunity to contribute to streamlining processes and improving the accuracy of data, supporting the wider finance team in providing better analysis, insight and support to the business.
To do this job you'll need to be a part qualified accountant with demonstrable experience in a management accounting or finance role, including experience of delivering management accounts, budgets and forecasts within a complex organisation.
If you have previous experience of working in a Higher Education institution, that's great. But if you haven't got these things, but tick our other boxes, we'd still love to hear from you!
