The Department of Medical Genetics invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Genetics (Honorary Consultant). This post is for clinical academics with specialist training in Clinical Genetics. The successful applicant will undertake research, teaching and clinical duties in a world class centre for clinical genomics research and training. The Department has a large and active research programme whose broad aim is to understand the genetic component of specific disease processes at the molecular level and then to apply this genetic approach to find better or novel clinical managements and treatments.

Key Responsibilities

Research: Candidates must have a strong research background of broad relevance to medical genetics/genomic medicine and could involve basic or translational research. Current research interests in the Department include developmental disorders, genomic imprinting, cancer genomics, inherited cancers, neurogenetics, renal and hepatic disease and medical bioinformatics and biostatistics (see http://www.medschl.cam.ac.uk/Research/Themes/genetics.html ).

Clinical: The successful candidate will hold a 50% Honorary Clinical contract in the NHS Regional Clinical Genetics service.

Teaching: The post will involve the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate student teaching.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the NHS Clinical Consultant scale, and the candidate can take up the appointment as soon as possible. This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
