The Department:
The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) is part of the Academic Division and reports to the Head of the Student Support Department within Education Services. The ADRC provides advice, information and support to prospective disabled applicants, undergraduates and post-graduates of the University of Cambridge and to the staff who support them. The ADRC also provides support and advice to Colleges and Departments/Faculties on the Equality Act (2010) in relation to disability equality matters and support for disabled students related to teaching learning and assessment as well as physical and digital accessibility. The ADRC also provides a training and consultancy service and coordinates approximately 20,000 hours' worth of Non-Medical Help (NMH) to disabled students each academic year.
The Role:
This newly created fixed-term ADRC Policy and Project Associate role will require the post holder to apply a wide range of skills and experience to support delivery of policy, project, governance and student engagement activities for the Department.
The ADRC Policy and Project Associate will support various strands of work, with specific responsibility for supporting the Head of the ADRC, the ADRC Senior Advisers and Operations Manager (the ADRC Management Team) with activities related to the University's Disability Review and the discipline-based advisory allocation project. Responsibilities will include servicing meetings, forums, consultation activity, research and data analysis, process mapping, report writing, project delivery, relationship building and contributing towards policy development and strategic decision making.
The ideal candidate would be educated to at least degree level (or equivalent experience), have a solid administrative background and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills. Previous experience in project delivery and/or policy development would be a distinct advantage. The post holder must have a flexible and pragmatic approach as the role will involve working both proactively and reactively across a broad range of topics. A strong interest in supporting disabled students in Higher Education is highly desirable.
This is a time-limited post (1-year fixed term contract). The role is advertised as full-time, but we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for flexible working arrangements.
Applications are welcome from external and internal candidates, including internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
We are committed to supporting our highly international and diverse student community informed by culturally-competent practice, lived experience and intersectionality. As such, we seek to represent the diversity of our community in the Department. We welcome applications from candidates from minoritised ethnic backgrounds as they are currently under-represented at this level in our Department.
Candidates wishing to make an application with the possibility of flexible working and/or on the basis of a secondment are kindly asked to indicate this within their covering letter.
Further information is available via the link below. When applying please upload your CV and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role and how you meet the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification within the Further Particulars. Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to interview based upon these criteria.
