We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so. 


About the role

As an Admissions Officer, the post-holder will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of applications and applicant enquiries. As such, attention to detail and excellent customer service is essential. The post-holder will deliver a proactive, meticulous, and professional service to support applicants throughout the admissions process.   

This is an exciting opportunity for colleagues looking to work in support of our students and who wish to expand their knowledge and expertise in the area of admissions and applicant support.  

We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

This is a full time post and we have both permanent roles  and a 12 month fixed term maternity cover role.


About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in customer service, or an administrative role. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications, or other training.
  • Experience of delivering a high level of administrative support and/or committed customer service.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new software.
  • Ability to complete a large volume of repetitive tasks whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient communicator (listening, speaking and writing) and used to communicating to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands, and manage workload effectively to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively identify enquirer requirements and proactively search, retrieve, collate, and present information suitable for the required audience.
  • Ability to keep up to date with process changes and commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within a team towards set objectives.
  • Familiarity with university admissions systems such as UCAS, SITS, e:Vision or experience of an online portal including CRM software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education, and the current issues and challenges in higher education Admissions.
