Position Overview
KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on the development of conducting polymers/frameworks as electrode materials for water desalination and value-added elemental recovery via capacitive deionization. The candidate will design novel materials and also test them in an electrochemical setup. The candidate also needs to work on existing potential conducting materials developed by other project personnel for electrochemical testing. The core part of the position is to work with a Ph.D. student and a researcher having core material synthesis expertise.
As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the Advanced Material Chemistry Center and/or the Canter for Catalysis and Separations and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.
Position Requirements
- In-depth knowledge and adequate training experience in the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of functional polymers and membranes (both amorphous and crystalline).
- Technical experience in conducting polymers.
- Experience in electrochemistry and water research.
- Able to work on interdisciplinary research.
- Having demonstrated autonomy and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written English and oral communication skills. Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager

Essential Criteria
- PhD from a reputable university in Chemistry or Materials Science or a related discipline.
- Experience writing scientific or review papers;
- A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
- Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
- Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers
- Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills
Desired Criteria
- PhD gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked University
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Post-doctoral researcher in academia or in industry.
- High impact first-author publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
