Transgenic Technologist in laboratory animal sciences

The ETH Phenomics Center is a state-of-the art research & technology platform that supports research groups at ETH Zurich in performing transgenic animal research. In this capacity we have an established and well equipped transgenic facility that provides services including the generation of transgenic and gene modified mice, embryo transfer and cryopreservation. With the view of complementing our transgenic team, we are looking for recruiting a transgenic technologist.


Job description

The successful candidate will perform different transgenic and reproductive techniques, the harvesting of preimplantation embryos, embryo transfers, embryo and sperm freezing as well as microinjection techniques like embryonic stem cell, pronuclear, ICSI and 2-cell injection. The ability for carrying out procedures to the highest technical standard and meticulous record keeping are essential. The position will further support the operation of a surgical laboratory area that conforms to the high standards of the facility in respect to health status and animal welfare and for maintaining mouse colonies required for the transgenic lab. Additionally, the position will be involved in the coordination of different projects with the researchers as well as the daily duties for the transgenic lab with the technicians and caretaker staff.


Your profile

For this position, flexible, goal oriented working and a strong team spirit is essential. The successful candidate should show a clear interest in learning new techniques. A minimum of three years demonstrated experience with microinjection techniques, incl. CRISPR/Cas, embryo transfers and freezing methods is required as well as proven ability to work with transgenic mouse models. Track record in managing projects for generation of transgenic or gene modified mice is an advantage. Skills with common office applications and vivarium software will be required. Communication in English and German is a strong advantage.

The position will require some week-end work.
