Offer Description

The Centre of Competence on Ageing (CCA) in the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) in Manno, is recruiting a Researcher with a social science background. The researcher will collaborate on a new project entitled: Understanding the intersection of informal caregiving for older people and paid employment among later-career adults in Switzerland: a gendered, life course perspective. Work percentage: 80-100%. Expected start date: 1st September 2024 (or to be agreed).

The project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and aims to understand how life course experiences in the labour market shape informal care provision for older family members and its relationship with paid employment along later-career adults. Particular attention is given to how socioeconomic inequalities may shape this relationship, as well as to the experiences of informal carers in balancing their multiple roles.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Support the principal investigator in all aspects of project management and execution.
  • Assume a leadership role in the preparation and analysis of secondary data (cross-sectional and longitudinal).
  • Contribute to the production of scientific output related to the project (scientific publications, presentations at national and international conferences).
  • Develop and expand expertise in the field of research on ageing, formal and informal care, and the relationship between paid and unpaid work.
  • Liase and collaborate with colleagues in the partner academic institutions and local partners.
  • Collaborate in the activities of the CCA and promote the climate of the centre.
