HiRAD is a Biodiversa+ project with partners at the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands), the Institute for Nature and Forest (Belgium), Agroscope (Switzerland), the Finnish Meteorological Institute (Finland) that will develop standardized monitoring of aerial biodiversity, following earlier work within project GloBAM . The PostDoc will characterise and quantify bird movements across Europe and their relations with insect abundances and movements based on data from networks of small-scale and weather radars. An explicit aim is to link data from both radar systems and to provide tools for stakeholders.

Strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g., in R) are required and previous experience with radar aeroecology is an asset. We also expect good communication skills in English, the ability to work independently as well as in a team. HiRAD explicitly encourages close collaboration with other partners and subprojects and supports regular exchange and research visits. You will be based at WSL in Birmensdorf and will work in collaboration withthe groups named above.
