The KOF  Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich is the leading institute for applied research in economics in Switzerland. Project background

We are looking for an intern (100%) at the research division Innovation Economics at KOF. The division develops, implements, and conducts annual panel surveys in the field of innovation, digitalization, and circular economy. The results are analyzed and interpreted in reports for different kinds of clients including governmental agencies. The division also pursues and publishes its research results in scientific journals. During your internship, you will contribute to projects related to the innovation activities of Swiss firms and the effectiveness of public support for these innovation activities.


Job description

Your task will be to support the research staff in all aspects of these projects. You will work closely with the project team.

Specifically, you will support the project team in the analysis of newly collected survey data. You will compile summary statistics, create informative graphs and help interpret the obtained results. You will gain an insight into the implementation of a research project and contribute to a scientific project that is of great importance for policy-making in Switzerland. 

You also have the option to participate in internal research seminars.


Your profile

We are looking for individuals:

  • with a strong interest in research in applied economic topics, especially innovation, new digital technologies, and circular economy, and a desire to participate in rigorous applied research,
  • with prior experience in handling and analyzing data using statistical software packages such as R is desired and a strong interest and drive in developing these skills is expected,
  • who are enrolled or were enrolled at a (Swiss) University,
  • with a good command of written and oral German and English,
  • who are willing to work with us for a maximum of 6 months.

The project starts on 01.04.2024 until approx. 31.09.2024
