Doctoral Student in Environmental Politics

The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group led by Professor Thomas Bernauer is offering a fully funded position for a Doctoral Student inEnvironmental Politics.


Job description

The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group is based both at the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) and the Institute of Science, Technology and Policy (ISTP). Its research and teaching focus on examining the role of citizens and consumers as well as national socio-economic and political conditions in providing solutions to trans-national environmental and economic problems. The new doctoral student will contribute to a project focused on designing environmentally effective and politically feasible policies for cleaner urban air in cities with low air quality in the Global South (e.g. Accra, Dakar, Delhi, Jakarta, Lima, San Salvador).

Your profile

The successful candidateshould hold a Master degree in Political Science, Economics, or Sociology, and be very familiar with Political Science theories, quantitative empirical methods, and preferably also survey and experimental methodologies. An excellent command of English is essential and experience with research in the Global South will be an asset. The preferred starting date is January 2023. The funding is for up to four years.
