We are looking for a UI/UX Designer to work 50% in the project "Gamify Energy Communities" (GECO).

What is the GECO Project?

GECO stands for “Gamify Energy Communities”.

Before we tackle the definition of “gamify”, a few words about energy communities: ECs are (typically) rural communities collaborating to increase their energy self-sufficiency, improve the robustness of their (hyper) local energy system, or decrease their energy usage and waste.

GECO wants to help rural communities (starting on Gotland, together with our project partner Energicentrum Gotland) start and maintain a productive energy community. We want to apply design principles from game design and digital product design to create a software solution that assists rural communities in doing that.

So far, we have engaged with representatives of nearly 20 rural communities, conducted in-depth interviews, conducted extensive research on ECs, and developed six prototypes of potential solutions to address the challenges we've identified.

We believe that:

- establishing and maintaining productive group dynamics
- picking a suitable energy project

are the two major factors preventing rural communities from starting an energy community, once they have heard of the concept.

Duties
You will be part of the GECO project.

We want to build a product to help rural communities pick an initial energy project and then support them with facilitation tools to execute it.

  • Be a big part of a small, dedicated team.
  • You will own and drive forward a significant portion of the project.
  • All work in the project will be open-sourced on GitHub.

  • Experience building or using component libraries in Figma, Sketch, Framer, or Penpot
  • Development will happen according to Agile/Scrum Methodologies, in sprints, and with daily stand-ups.
  • Ability to work closely together with a Product Manger / Product Owner

  • You have experience working in teams (or playing team sports) and have a good mindset when it comes to working with others.
  • You are ambitious, positive, enthusiastic, and passionate about technology, sustainability, and/or group dynamics and leadership.
  • Comfortable working Fully Remote

  • Send us links to your three best projects. Ideally, these are hosted somewhere (a live product, in a portfolio, or a Figma share link, etc.). If we invite you for an interview, we will want to hear about your challenges and achievements for each project.
  • write a paragraph or two about why you are interested in the GECO project and, most importantly, how you would grow and benefit personally from working on this.
  • If you have an up-to-date CV, feel free to attach it.
