Description of the workplace 

The Division of Pure and Applied Biochemistry has research and education within molecular imprinting, bioseparation, protein engineering, bio- and biomimetic sensors, plant breeding/analysis, biomaterial, and biomedical nutrition. Closely linked to the unit’s course activities, we also supervise project students in an international student competition in synthetic biology and for this we are now looking for a project assistant linked to the laboratory part of the project.

Work duties 

The position includes supervision of a student competition in synthetic biology. The student competition takes place in project form where the position primarily concerns the laboratory part of the project. You will work with supervision, planning, and some administration related to the laboratory work that the students in the competition perform.


Qualifications  
Required qualifications for the position are:
  • You should have knowledge and experience within synthetic biology, such as university-level courses in biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics, or similar.
  • You should have experience of having worked in project form with laboratory work and be able to work structured and independently towards established goals.
  • You should be responsible and have a safety awareness around laboratory work.
  • You should have good proficiency in written and spoken English.

Additional qualifications for the position are:
  • It is an additional qualification if you have a Master’s degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, or similar, or alternatively equivalent relevant studies of about 5 years.
  • It is an additional qualification if you have practical experience of molecular biological laboratory work, such as cloning work and production of DNA constructs for gene expression.
  • It is an additional qualification if you have practical experience of student supervision.
  • It is an additional qualification if you have practical experience of student competitions.

Further information 

The position is a fixed-term employment for two months with desired start on June 24 2024, or according to agreement.
