Duties
The work will be carried out as part of the Migration Policy Database (MIGPOL) which is funded by the Swedish Research Council as part of the infrastructure project Demscore. The project provides high-quality comparative data on migration policies as well as the political, social and economic rights of immigrants from a global perspective. MIGPOL is a compilation database which brings together indicators from leading data projects in the field of comparative migration policy research. It is part of an extensive national and international research collaboration.

The assistants will be working with Professor Joakim Palme and other researchers at the Department of Government to collect information for an update of the dataset “Every Immigrant is an Emigrant” (IMISEM). The project covers migration policies in 30 country cases across Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The primary task will be to verify the sources of the original data collection and update the information. The coding is estimated to take one month for each country. The length of the contract will depend on the number of countries that an assistant is able to cover (up to three months/countries).

Current enrolment or completion of a Bachelor's degree program in Political Science or equivalent social sciences. Very good knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel) and Zoom are required. Accuracy, independence, good analytical skills, and a very good ability to understand and express oneself in English, are all prerequisites for the position. The project further requires fluency in the primary language spoken in one or more of the countries covered by IMISEM: Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, East Timor, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.
