Description of the workplace

The Division of Structural Mechanics, at the Department of Construction Sciences, offers a collaborative work environment and committed employees. We have a strong focus on leading research and good teaching, and we have access to equipment for advanced computer calculations and experimental measurements. You will work in a group of researchers who are motivated by understanding and solving societal challenges. The position also includes teaching at basic and advanced levels.

We are now offering a temporary position at the department while recruiting an assistant professor.


Work duties

Description of the work duties:

  • Research within the subject area.
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies.
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students.
  • Assist in seeking external research funding.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualifications

Appointment to a position as a researcher requires that the applicant has a PhD.

Required qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.  
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Good oral and written proficiency in Swedish, since teaching in Swedish is part of the work.
  • Collaborative skills, initiative and the ability to solve work tasks independently, as well as a demonstrated interest in leadership.

Other qualifications:

  • Significant documented research experience (e.g. from postdoc or doctoral studies) from another university/institute or relevant experience from industry/public sector.
  • Very good knowledge in Structural Dynamics and/or Structural Acoustics.
  • Documented experience in applying theoretical and experimental methods in Structural Dynamics and/or Structural Acoustics.
  • Documented experience in teaching, including supervision of master’s theses.
  • Documented experience of work in industry and/or collaboration with industry.

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for the period 2024-09-15 – and for the longest until 2025-04-15, at 100 percent of full time.
