Research assistant

Karolinska Institutet's Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery is currently seeking to a dedicated medical student/recent graduate to join the clinical physiology research group, specifically with Wilson’s disease research projects.

As a Research Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in research projects focusing on cardiovascular magnetic resonance diagnostic features of Wilson disease. Your responsibilities will encompass data acquisition, data processing, and conducting statistical analyses. You will need to present the results of your work in scientific lectures, posters and potentially in scientific publications.

We are looking for a motivated Research Assistant who is a medical student/newly graduate and meets the following criteria:
• Comfortable working in an international environment.
• Confident in professional English communication to effectively collaborate with the team.
• Familiarity and experience with endo- and epicardial contouring in cardiac MR, and proficiency in using the Segment software.
• Previous experience in evaluating different quantitative mapping techniques is needed to be able to work independently. Specific knowledge on multiparametric mappings, including sequences such as MOLLI, mSASHA and MRF is necessary.
• Knowledge of scientific literature related to cardiac MR and Wilson’s disease is highly desirable.
• Basic user skills in statistical software applications (e.g., SPSS).
• Previous experience in preparing and delivering scientific presentations.
• Knowledge about the structure of scientific publications and prior experience in scientific writing (e.i publications) are vital for effectively presenting research findings.
• The research projects will be focusing on patients with Wilson’s disease; previous work, experience in the field is highly appreciated.
