The Department of Psychology is one of the biggest departments at the Faculty for Social Sciences with about 250 employees and 1200 students. Research at the Department is conducted within 6 divisions and two research institutes.

Main responsibilities
As a research assistant in the research unit of Psychoneuroimmunology at the division of Psychobiology and epidemiology , you will contribute to a study assessing the role of interoceptive prediction errors in the behavioral and neuronal responses to acute inflammation, funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond. This study uses a model of acute inflammation in healthy humans (i.e., experimental endotoxemia) and the assessment of behavioral changes. Neuronal changes using brain imaging are also assessed.

Duties will include data collection (under supervision of Dr. Julie Lasselin and in collaboration with other research assistants/PhD students and staff) and the everyday management of the planned study, as well as basic analyses of the collected data.

Tasks will include for instance:

  • Contacting study participants and organization of the assessments
  • Behavioral assessments and caring of the participants during data collection
  • Collection of brain imaging data
  • Coordination of study days
  • Data management and preliminary statistical analyses of immunological and behavioral changes
  • Handling and analyses of the biological samples (e.g., ELISA).

Qualification requirements
We are looking for someone with a Master degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedicine, or another subject relevant for the work tasks.

You must have documented experience of clinical studies or experimental studies in humans, and psychological and/or neurocognitive assessments. It is a strong advantage to have experience with the model of experimental endotoxemia in humans, and with handling blood. It is an advantage to have basic knowledge on sickness behavior and psychoneuroimmunology.

Weight will be given to your ability to work independently and your motivation for the topic. Special weight will be given to ability to plan and to work in a proactive manner.

Good knowledge of English, both verbal and written, and basic knowledge of Swedish is required.

Terms of employment
This is a part time 75 %, indefinite-term position with a six-month trial period. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Start date immediately.
