Division
The Department of Neuro consists of 21 research groups conducting research in neurological diseases as well as brain and spinal cord injuries. In the group of Translational Neuropharmacology, approximately 15 employees are employed, including: Molecular biology and biochemical researchers and medical doctors under supervision of Professor Per Svenningsson. The aim of the research within the group is to further understand the cause of different neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease, in order to discover new and better therapies for patients suffering from these diseases. The research extends widely from basic research to patient-oriented clinical research, which facilitates the translation of basic findings into clinical and clinical findings into basic research. The strength of the group lies in the fact that this translational opportunity is combined with methodological expertise in genetics, radiology and protein science.

Duties
As a research assistant, the successful candidate will work with protein analysis (Western blot), histological analysis (immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization), analysis of data from in vivo neurotransmitter recordings (glutamate, dopamine recordings)  and cytological analysis (immunofluorescence). The source of these samples will be from cell lines, animal models and human samples. The applicant will work close with patients and perform skin biopsies, blood sampling and lumbar punctures to obtain working material. The applicant will be responsible for analyzing these samples according to their respective protocols and the analyses are documented and stored in structured and easy to follow way.

The applicant will be expected to work well independently and as part of a team, establishing and maintaining collaborations. They should be motivated to work in an international and multidisciplinary research group. The applicant must also be able to perform interventions on patients as for the position is required to take patients samples as indicated above. Entry requirements
The applicant must have an academic degree in the field of Medicine as she/he will need to have access to patient data and make medical interventions. A strong background in molecular and cellular imaging, preferably in the neuroscience field, is advantageous. Applicants may have spent part of their education in a foreign country, bringing international experience and a strong team spirit to the laboratory. Excellent command of the English language is highly preferred. It is also important that the applicant has clinical experience, for example taking skin biopsies, blood and biological fluid samples.

Application process
The application is to be submitted on the MyNetwork recruitment system.
