Research Assistant for Project on Asthma in Horses

The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with more than 250 employees and over 900 additional coworkers connected via the Uppsala University Hospital. The research group in molecular precision medicine is seeking a research assistant for a temporary position lasting 7 months within a project concerning asthma-like diseases in horses. The project is conducted in collaboration with researchers in clinical veterinary medicine at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Duties
The current project aims, among other things, to analyze new biomarkers for inflammatory airway conditions in horses. The work involves participating in sample collection both in clinical settings and in field studies, as well as organizing and documenting these samples. Additionally, responsibilities include extracting RNA/DNA (from lung lavage samples, plasma, and blood samples), performing qPCR analyses, and preparing sequence libraries for NGS analysis.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences. We are seeking a meticulous and organized individual with documented experience in RNA/DNA extractions. Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written, in English is required. Significant importance will be placed on personal suitability, particularly the ability to work collaboratively with other researchers, veterinarians, and bioinformaticians.

Previous experience in isolating and analyzing cell-free RNA from plasma samples with NGS is a requirement.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 7 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 15 June or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
