Project Assistant in Genetic Occupational and Environmental Medicine (PA2024/1541)

Description of the workplace
The Division of Occupational and Environment Medicine at Lund University is part of the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University and contributes to identifying health risks in the work and surrounding environment, eliminating these risks, and preventing ill health. The division focuses on a variety of research areas including the work environment, the surrounding environment such as chemicals, air pollution, noise, and metals during different time windows in life for health, planetary health, and lifestyle factors.

The research group Genetic Occupational and Environmental Medicine is located at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and focuses on the role of the environment on health, by combining genetic and molecular approaches with epidemiological and register-based studies. The research group is led by Professor Karin Broberg. We are about 10 members in the research group from different parts of the world. The research group is located at Medicon Village in Lund. Work duties
The employment includes coordination and a variety of tasks related to the GreenMetalWaste project. The position involves data entry, management, curation, and analysis, as well as drafting reports, scientific, and popular science articles. Other existing tasks within the research group may also be relevant, including but not limited to, participation in research and presentation of results.

Qualifications
Requirements for employment are:

• Master’s degree in relevant topic, preferably related to environmental science or biology
• Knowledge related to environmental metal exposure as well as other critical raw materials
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English

Additional qualifications for the position are:

• Previous experience in natural resources, pollutants, and contamination
• Previous experience of working with mining and heavy metal exposure
• Ability to write academic texts

The employment is a fulltime position time-limited to 1 year. Start date is August 1st, 2024, or according to agreement.
